General Questions
What is MaskMail?
MaskMail is a free disposable email service. It gives you a temporary email address that you can use to receive emails without revealing your real email address. The temporary inbox automatically self-destructs after 30 minutes, along with all received messages.
Is MaskMail completely free?
Yes. MaskMail is 100% free with no premium tier, no ads, and no hidden costs. You can generate unlimited temporary email addresses at no charge.
Do I need to create an account?
No. MaskMail requires zero registration. Just visit the website and a temporary email address is generated automatically. No name, no password, no personal information of any kind.
Using MaskMail
How do I get a temporary email address?
Simply visit maskmail.online. A temporary email address is generated automatically when the page loads. You can also click "Change" to generate a new random address.
How long does my temporary email last?
Each temporary inbox lasts for 30 minutes from the moment it's created. After 30 minutes, the inbox and all emails are permanently deleted. A countdown timer on the page shows exactly how much time remains.
Can I extend the expiration time?
No. The 30-minute limit is fixed for security and privacy reasons. If you need more time, simply generate a new email address.
Can I send emails from my temporary address?
No. MaskMail is a receive-only service. You can only receive emails at your temporary address, not send them. This is by design to prevent abuse.
Can I choose my email address?
No. Email addresses are randomly generated to ensure uniqueness and prevent others from guessing your inbox. This is an important security feature.
How do I copy my temporary email address?
There are three ways:
- Click directly on the email address displayed in the dashed box
- Click the "Copy" button below the address
- On desktop, there's a green copy button to the right of the address box
Receiving Emails
How fast do emails arrive?
Most emails arrive within 5-30 seconds. The inbox checks for new messages automatically every 10 seconds. If an email hasn't arrived after 2 minutes, try clicking "Refresh."
Can I receive attachments?
Yes. MaskMail supports email attachments. You can view and download attachments directly from the message viewer. There's a size limit of 10 MB per attachment and 50 MB per inbox.
Can I receive HTML emails?
Yes. HTML emails are rendered in full, including formatting, images, and links. For security, potentially dangerous elements (like scripts) are automatically removed.
Why didn't I receive an email?
There are several possible reasons:
- The email hasn't arrived yet — Some services delay sending verification emails. Wait 1-2 minutes and click "Refresh"
- The sender blocked disposable emails — Some websites detect and block known disposable email domains
- The inbox expired — If 30 minutes have passed, the inbox no longer exists. Generate a new one
- The sender's server is slow — Enterprise email systems can sometimes take several minutes to deliver
Privacy & Security
Is MaskMail private?
Yes. We don't collect personal information, don't use tracking cookies, and don't log IP addresses with inboxes. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Can someone else read my temporary emails?
Your inbox can only be accessed by someone who knows the exact email address. Since addresses are randomly generated with high entropy, guessing an active inbox is virtually impossible. However, you should not use temporary email for sensitive communications.
Is it safe to use for password resets?
No. Do not use MaskMail for password resets of important accounts. The temporary email will expire, and you'll lose access to any reset links. Use your real email for accounts you care about.
What happens to my data after 30 minutes?
Everything is permanently deleted — the inbox record, all received emails, all attachments. There are no backups and no way to recover expired data. This is a feature, not a limitation.
